As many as 38,000 hectares of crops were affected by the latest hail. Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov has told IPN that the hail caused damage of about 290 million lei to agriculture so far.
The official said that a working group was set up to assess the situation in agriculture. By the end of this week, it will prepare an assessment report based on which there will be selected the farmers who will receive compensations from the state.
According to Vasile Bumacov, the rain of the last two days was very good as it wasn’t accompanied by storm and hail. Owing to the rainy weather, the wheat harvesting works were suspended, but will be resumed the coming days as the rain is expected to stop.
More rain is expected to fall today, July 1. On July 4 and 5, it will rain only in parts of the country. The temperatures this week will be high and will not fall under 25 degrees Celsius during the day.
