Hail and rain showers of the last days affected, especially, anti-hail unprotected territories. At the same time, as well on the passive zone territories damages were registered, on the flights’ trajectory and at the border, where anti-hail stations cannot work, the minister of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAFI), Anatolie Gorodenco, stated. According to him, now the special commissions evaluate the damages of the farmers, being already known that the autumn crops are affected, as well as the spring ones. Gorodenco said that the Government wants to extend the area protected against hail, from 700,000 hectares of agricultural lands, the present area – up to 2 million hectares. The minister required in this sense the support of businessmen and local public administrations, because additional resources will be needed besides those 16 million lei included in the state budget. The minister regrets the fact that very few businessmen insured their crops against natural disasters, emphasizing that only they will benefit of state’s assistance, because of the limited budgetary possibilities and of the fact that the state has made significant changes in he legislation in force in order to make possible reduction by 50-60% of the bonuses for insurances in agriculture.
