H1 economic growth at 4.3%
The Moldovan industrial entities produced, in the first half of 2008, products worth 14.1046 billion lei, by 4.6% more compared with the same period of 2007, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from the National Statistics Bureau. The growth is explained preponderantly by the rise in the food processing and drinks industries (11.8%) and in the energy sector (8%).
The global agricultural output in current prices was 3.641 billion lei: 94.2% compared with the same period of the last year. The decline in agriculture was determined by the drop in animal breeding (22.1%). At the same time, the crops harvested rose 65.4%.
The investments in fixed assets were 5.5165 billion lei in the H1, 3.0617 billion representing construction-assembling works: 12.3% and, respectively, by 5.1% more than in the first half of 2007. Putting dwellings in commission dropped 2.6%.
The transporters' carried goods by 13.1% more in terms of distance and by 14.9% more in terms of freight. The public transport carried by 10.0% more passengers in terms of distance, and by 4.2% -- in terms of numbers.
The retail sales stood at 9.4892 billion lei, surging 13.1%. The population were supplied services worth 5.3706 billion lei, by 2.2% more.
The exported goods are worth $738.2 million, up 23%. The imports stood at $2.3335 billion, up 44.5%. The trade balance recorded a deficit of $1.5953 billion, by 57.3% more than during H1 of 2007.
The average monthly salary was 2,429 lei, up 26.1%. The budget earning sector recorded a salary of 1,978 lei, while the private sector – 2,665 lei.
The average consumer prices dropped in June 2008, compared with May 2008, by
1.1%, the food tumbled 3.5%, especially the vegetal produce. The inflation rate in June compared to December 2007 was 6.2%, and, compared with June 2007 – 15.6%.
The Gross Domestic Product was 12.693 billion lei in the first half, by 4.3% more than in H1 2007.
