The head of the gynecology division of the Ocnita district hospital was arrested after she asked for 1,000 lei bribe from a female patient, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime (CCCEC), early this week the woman was rushed to the hospital in Ocnita, where she gave birth to a baby. The same day, the child died, while the division head asked that the woman gave 1,000 lei to her for applying postnatal treatment of a high quality. The doctor was caught in the act of taking the money marked “CCCEC bribe”. She was taken to the remand unit of the Center’s Local General Division “Nord” and will be investigated for passive corruption. The gynecology division head faces five to ten years in prison and a fine of up to 60,000 lei.
