A Moldovan citizen was hurt at the border between Moldova and Ukraine, on the Transnistrian segment that is not controlled by the Moldovan constitutional authorities. The Ukrainian press reported that the Transnistrian border guards opened fire on two Moldovans, injuring seriously one of them, IPN reports.
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine said the incident happened near Novaia Andriashevka settlement, which is situated 1 km from the border, in the afternoon of March 31. The unilateral commission created to investigate this case established that the Ukrainian border guards didn’t use their firearms.
According to the Service, the Russian press reports that the Ukrainian border guards started to shoot at the Moldovans are provocative in character and are aimed at hiding the use of guns by the Transnistrian border guards against compatriots and at causing a conflict situation so as to destabilize the situation in the region.
The Reintegration Office of Moldova didn’t comment on this case.
