“Guide of conduct for overcoming challenges”, Mihai Popșoi about Pact for the Future adopted by UN

“Cooperation and solidarity between states are necessary to solve the problems faced by the international community,” Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi stated in his speech at the Summit of the Future held on Sunday in New York as part of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, IPN reports, with reference to a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova.

The Deputy Prime Minister also spoke about the importance of involving young people, both nationally and internationally, and pleaded for strengthening international peace and security. Mihai Popșoi reaffirmed the Moldovan authorities’ commitment to accelerate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.

After debates, the UN member states adopted the Pact for the Future, the Global Digital Compact  and the Declaration on Future Generations.

“The Pact for the Future must serve as a guide for effective multilateral cooperation in order to facilitate the overcoming of existing challenges and provide tangible benefits to the citizens around the world,” said Mihai Popșoi.

The Summit of the Future brought together heads of state and government at the UN headquarters in New York to address critical challenges and faults in global governance. The topics discussed at the meeting were complex and diverse: from energy crises and economic recessions, which together affect international peace, security and sustainable development, to climate change.
