An ordinary meeting of the Moldovan-Russian interparliamentary cooperation commission will take place in March. The first meeting of the Moldovan-Russian friendship group will be held in the same period to continue the discussions on important subjects concerning the bilateral cooperation, Head of Parliament Marian Lupu said in a press briefing upon his return from Moscow. He visited the Russian capital at the invitation of the State Duma Chairman Boris Gryzlov, Info-Prim Neo reports. Marian Lupu told the journalists that in February the Parliament of Moldova will announce the composition of the friendship group and of the interparliamentary cooperation commission on behalf of Moldova. “I’m glad that all these plans and the conclusions we reached were supported by Mister Gryzlov,” said Marian Lupu. He also said that they decided to promote the contacts at all the levels. A first step will be the visit by Foreign Affairs Minister Iurie Leanca to Moscow in March. The aim of the visit will be to establish cooperation between the Foreign Ministries. Marian Lupu said Gryzlov assured him he will provide assistance in organizing a visit by Russian Premier Vladimir Putin to Chisinau in the near future. The Speaker reiterated that the strategic relations with Russia are very important to Moldova and should be now strengthened as the dialogue with Moscow stagnated as a result of the political crisis experienced during the last two years.
