Group of Socialists puts forward proposals for MPs

The parliamentary group of the Socialists in the February 23 sitting of the legislature will present a set of proposals concerning economic recovery in the form of a legislative initiative, the leader of the Party of Socialists of Moldova Igor Dodon announced in a news conference, Info-Prim Neo reports. Igor Dodon said the necessity of implementing these proposals derives from the risk of a drastic increase in the number of pensioners and decrease in the number of employed persons. “If the trends are maintained, in 2020 every employee will have to maintain two pensioners. The Government now raises the retirement age in order to reduce the number of pensioners, but this is not a long-term solution. At least by 2020, the number of employees should be not less than 1 million. Otherwise, the economy and the whole country will collapse,” said the Socialist leader. MP Zinaida Greceanyi said the Government should not allow privatizing the strategic state companies. “We consider the executive must be responsible for regulating the electric power tariffs and the prices, not different specialized institutions. We are against selling such companies as Moldtelecom, Banca de Economii, Moldova’s Railways, Red Nord, and Moldelectrica,” she stated. According to the Socialists, the fiscal policy must be adopted for three years, not for half a year, while the income tax of 12% put on companies should be annulled. They proposed that the farmers should be given appropriate subsidies from the state budget, while the foreign resources should be allocated for investment projects, not consumption.
