The strategic coordination group composed of representatives of the Government, local public authorities and civil society was entrusted with the task of drafting the National Decentralization Strategy and the plan of action for implementing it, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Government. The decision was taken at the first working meeting of the Parity Commission on Decentralization, where Prime Minister Vlad Filat said decentralization means authentic local public autonomy when the powers of the local public authorities are clearly defined. The meeting decided to create working groups that will focus on the following areas: organization and functioning of the local public authorities; decentralization of services and powers; financial decentralization, and patrimonial decentralization. The Parity Commission on Decentralization was set up following public consultations with the central and local public authorities, civil society, the academic circles and development partners in accordance with the Government Decision No. 608 of July 5, 2010 “On the implementation of the Law No.435-XVI of December 28, 2006 on decentralization”.
