The initiative group for creating the Young Generation Party has announced that they will sue the Government for violating the Constitution’s article concerning the guaranteeing of decent living conditions for every citizen. The group’s leader Andrei Donica said over 1 million Moldovans live below the minimum subsistence level of almost 1,600 lei.
According to Donica, the people whose incomes are lower than the minimum subsistence level include the pensioners, persons with disabilities, persons looking after children and the unemployed. In a news conference at IPN, the initiative group’s leader said the fact that the people have to live in such conditions represents ‘genocide’.
Andrei Donica also said that in Moldova there are hundreds of persons who have incomes of millions, but they do not pay taxes. “We know very well that the money is in the country. It simply does not reach the budget. The rich ones do not pay taxes. They pay protection charges of 100,000 lei a month and nobody inspects them. Only the poor pay taxes. If the Government says there is no money, we will show where the money is hidden,” he stated.
The leader of the initiative group for creating the Young Generation Party is sure that the court will decide in their favor. If it does not, they will complain to the ECHR. According to Andrei Donica, 500 persons have so far signed the petition against the Government. A similar number of signatures will be collected before they go to court.
