Grosu Government would be voted in despite contradictions existing in Parliament, opinion

Political analyst Anatol Țăranu considers the Grosu Government will be voted in despite all the contradictions existing now in Parliament. According to him, most of the MPs do not want snap elections and the non-voting in of the government proposed by the nominated candidate means snap elections with a probability of almost 100%. The Socialist MPs could not vote for, but the necessary votes in favor could be supplemented by the MPs of the Shor Party following secret agreements between the PSRM-Shor Party majority.

Contacted by IPN for a comment, Anatol Țăranu said the political steps show the Grosu Government will ask for a vote of confidence from Parliament. As the largest part of the MPs do not want snap elections, votes for investing this government will be found.

As regards the Socialist leader’s assertions that the Socialists will not vote for the Grosu Government, the analyst said Igor Dodon not only once showed that there is a big distance between his political statements and his actions. The Socialists, alongside other parliamentary groups, except for the PAS, are not interested in snap elections and they will most probably identify a formula for the Grosu Government to be invested with the votes of one of the PSRM’s allies, without the Socialist MPs voting for this.

“The Shor vote for the Grosu Government is a vote that somehow overshadows this government and the PSRM will be able to demagogically exploit this vote and say that we are allies, buy we voted against, while they voted for. It could be a stratagem that would be applied when the Government is to be voted in and this would reveal a secret agreement between Shor and Dodon,” stated Anatol Țăranu.

He believes the Socialists hope the Grosu Government would be unable to manage the economic and pandemic crisis and, as a result, will obtain new possibilities for leveling criticism and saying that this government is unable to keep the critical situation under control. But the situation is really very difficult and the Grosu Government’s task will be very difficult.

Anatol Țăranu also said that if the governmental team proposed by Igor Grosu is not voted in by Parliament, the President is ready to dissolve Parliament. The President has a free hand and the Socialists have to play by the rules imposed by Maia Sandu. The presidential administration is in a favorable situation. Even if the current conditions are serious and the government’s mission will be difficult, they have what to choose from, while the PSRM-Shor majority does not have good solutions.
