Grigoriopol students to travel freely to school in Dorotskaya

The Joint Control Commission (JCC) considers the teachers and students of the Grigoriopol-based High School “Stefan cel Mare” who go to the Romanian-language school in Dorotskaya village, which is under the control of the constitutional authorities, must travel freely and should not be stopped at the Transnistrian customs, Info-Prim Neo reports. JCC co-chairman Ion Solonenko, who leads the Moldovan delegation, has told the Agency that the Commission adopted a decision to this effect in the September 15 meeting. “We managed to include the given issue in the agenda only towards the end of the JCC’s meeting as the Transnistrian delegation was against. But the delegations of Russia, Ukraine and the OSCE Mission expressed their concern about the created situation and it was agreed no to take steps that may worsen the situation in the Security Zone. We are yet to see if the decision is obeyed or not. The relevant bodies of Transnistria usually do not implement the JCC’s decisions,” said Ion Solonenko. More than 200 students and teachers from Grigoriopol town have been detained by Transnistrian customs officers this week. They stopped the bus for ‘checks’ and allowed it to go only in about half an hour. The teachers said they have experienced such a situation every day since the start of the school year. The students from Grigoriopol have to travel over 30 kilometers daily up to the school in Dorotskaya.
