“Grigore Vieru is a god for Romanians”, Fuego
“Grigore Vieru is a god for the Romanians,” said Romanian singer Paul Fuego, who performed in an extraordinary concert dedicated to the poet. The concert was given at the National Palace in Chisinau on February 11 and 12, Info-Prim Neo reports.
”Grigore Vieru will tell the truth from the grave as well,” said Paul Fuego. “The Romanians from both banks of the Nistru like the poet’s songs for their profound message and simplicity of the verses.”
Grigore Vieru spent the last hours of his life together with Fuego. They both participated in activities held to commemorate poet Mihai Eminescu. After that event, Grigore Vieru died as a result of a tragic accident.
”We worked intensely on my album together with the poet and I never thought we would not manage to do more,” said Fuego. “The period during which I cooperated with the poet was the most beautiful in my life.” During the concert, the public listened to the singer’s songs standing and applauded him long.
Michael Kleitman from Germany, a good friend of Grigore Vieru, also had many projects that he intended to implement in concert with the poet. “We often met in Bucharest and had plans for the future, including holding a concert in Chisinau,” said the German tenor, who also performed in the concert. “It is painful to sing at a concert commemorating my friend.”
Composer Anatol Chiriac said Vieru was his spiritual father as he guided him and gave him pieces of advice during 32 years. “I learned from Grigore Vieru what is kindness, love, respect for the family and what qualities a professional must have,” he said. “He helped me in everything I did, proposed solution to the problems I faced and was an example for me,” Anatol Chiriac said.
”Grigore Vieru guided me after my father’s death,” said Doina Sulac. “He wrote many songs for me and told me that my father will live through my songs.”
Young singer Mihaela Chisnencu is proud of the cooperation with Grigore Vieru. She won many national and international contests in which she sang his songs. “He and composer Anatol Roscovan wrote the song “I Love You and I Fly” for me. I’m glad that I can sing his songs and commemorate him,” said Mihaela.
Many persons cried during the concert, especially when the poet himself recited poems on a screen.
”I cannot listen to Grigore Vieru without tears in my eyes,” said Veronica Chirica, a spectator from Chisinau. “When Vieru left we lost a part of our culture. I hope our artists will always sing his songs. Only so will we be able to keep his memory for generations.”
Iurie Sadovnic, Stefan Petrache, Catalin Josan, Anatol Dumitras, Silvia Chiriac, Vadim Gheorgelas, Nicolae Botgros, Gheorghe Mustea, Mihai Ciobanu and many other artists who cooperated somehow with Grigore Vieru took part in the concert that was organized by Lidia Panfil.
