Grigore Petrenco, who heads the political party “Our Home-Moldova”, said he was set free from penitentiary as a result of the pressure exerted by European officials on the Government of Moldova. He developed the issue in the talk show “In Depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.
“Yes, it’s true that the Socialist MPs signed the guarantee, but before this the Europeans exerted great pressure on Chisinau. I wasn’t declared a political prisoner. Anyway, the regime didn’t fully comply. The judiciary control was extended and all the bans were kept, including to protest. It is for the first time in our country when a citizen is banned from protesting,” stated the politician.
Grigore Petrenco considers ex-Premier Vlad Filat could also be released as a result of the pressure applied by European officials. “Great pressure is exerted, but it is yet insufficient. This case is a smokescreen. It’s clear that Filat could not steal the billion when the National Bank, the National Anticorruption Center, the prosecution service and the legal system are controlled by Plahotniuc,” he stated, noting that the conditions in which the ex-Premier is held do not differ from the conditions of the other detainees.
Grigore Petrenco said the criminal case against him was started with the aim of intimidating the protesters, but it is also revenge taken by Plahotniuc. “Before protesting at the Prosecutor General’s Office, we la Procuratura Generală, noi am protestat lângă casa lui Plahotniuc. În acel timp luase amploare mişcarea protestatară. Regimul oligarhic a avut nevoie de un exemplu pentru a speria protestatarii”, a spus Petrenco.
