Greens elect new leaders

Anatol Prohnitchi is the new president of the Environmental Party “Green Alliance”. He was elected on Sunday, during the Party’s fifth congress. Andrei Dumbraveanu was appointed head of the party's National Council, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Andrei Dumbraveanu, the National Council was founded in accordance with the new status that was adopted at the congress. The leadership of the Party will be split among the Permanent Bureau, the president and the National Council. “The National Council has several attributions. It deals with the Party’s territorial development and oversees the activity of the Permanent Bureau. Thus, if the Party’s orientation is being distorted, then the National Council can decide to fire the president without waiting for the following congress”, said Andrei Dumbraveanu. The Party’s new program is following the motto “A green future for Moldova and the promotion of long-lasting development”, and aims at the development of eco-friendly energy and agriculture in Moldova. Head of the Green Party in Romania Ovidiu Iane, who was invited to the congress, said that the power of a Party lies within its members, and the most important goal for a political Party is to become part of the Government. 165 delegates from 21 districts of the country participated in the congress.
