The Green Party of Romania sent an open letter to the President of Moldova Nicolae Timofti and to the members of Moldova’s Parliament, demanding that they should show political maturity and should prove that they realized the importance of stability on the way to joining the European organizations, IPN reports.
“The Green Party of Romania wants to reassert, alongside the public and political institutions of Romania, the support provided to Moldova on its path of European integration. The series of events that took place in Chisinau over the last few weeks endangers the democratic road covered so far and risks throwing the Moldovan political life into chaos,” reads the letter.
The Greens say the lack of predictability in the actions of some of the political parties should not affect the firm choice made by Moldova during the last few years. “When forming the current parliamentary coalition, the pro-European parities assumed a series of reforms that would bring the Republic of Moldova closer to its political objectives. All those who support this road expect the statements made then (depoliticization of the institutions, fight against corruption, bringing to justice of those who robbed Moldovan banks” to be put into practice. The Republic of Moldova already started the road to the EU and there is no way back,” says the letter.
The Green Party reiterated the importance of the dialogue as a method of resolving the crisis. According to it, in such moments, it is imperatively necessary for the political groups and civil society to make a common front to alleviate the situation.
