The Green Ecologist Party of Moldova will be able to put forward its own candidate for the European parliamentary elections of May 22-25, 2014, which is a novelty, the party’s chairman Anatolie Prohnitchi said in a news conference, quoted by IPN.
Anatolie Prohnitchi said that under the decision of the European Green Party’s Committee held this May, the 37 green parties from Europe rolled out the campaign preceding the European parliamentary elections. For the first time in the history of the European legislative elections, the European Green Party launches a common electoral campaign for all the EU member states, within which the Green Parties from these states will field candidates.
According to Anatolie Prohnitchi, no party in Europe held such an election campaign. For the first time, they ensured participation in online votes for fielding candidates and for young people older than 16. “The Green Ecologist Party of Moldova was offered a unique chance to be included in the lists of the Green Parties of the European Union. The candidates must only hold the nationality of the EU,” he stated.
The Green Ecologist Party’s chairman underlined that the European Green Party’s initiative is a chance for all the Moldovans. The procedure for selecting candidates will start soon. It will be anticipated by a meeting of the party’s National Council.
