The Green Ecologist Party urges the leaders of the ruling parties to identify a candidate for the post of Prime Minister from among the Alliance for European Integration, who will be supported and confirmed by Parliament. The Greens consider that if such a scenario is not successful, the head of state should initiate consultations with civil society so as to find a suitable candidate, even from outside the AEI, IPN reports.

The party’s chairman Anatolie Prohnitchi told a news conference that the Green Ecologist Party is against early parliamentary elections as they can compromise Moldova’s European course. “We say NO to early elections and YES to European integration,” he stated.

According to Anatolie Prohnitchi, the leaders of the ruling parties must realize that they now play a decisive role. If the crisis situation is not overcome in the near future, the consequences will be serious.

The politician said it is for the second time that the parties of the AEI cause a political crisis. The first crisis was generated by the impossibility of electing the head of state. According to Prohnitchi, the methods used at the moment to solve the crisis are inappropriate. He referred to the negotiators delegated by the three parties, saying the problem must be solved at the level of leaders.

Alexandru Donea, the leader of the youth wing of the Green Ecologist Party, said the young people want stability in the country, and workplaces at home, with decent salaries. “Fewer young people study at universities because they do not see their future in the country,” he stated

The Green Ecologist Party is an extra-parliamentary party. In the last legislative elections, of 2010, the party, which was then called the Ecologist Party “Green Alliance” of Moldova, polled 0.08% of the vote and didn’t pass the election threshold.
