The price of the Green Card insurance certificate, which is mandatory for drivers who go abroad, decreased. According to MP Radu Marian, the reduction in price is due to the entry into force of the law on the partial liberalization of the insurance market, IPN reports.

The parliamentarian said that the price of a policy valid for 15 days decreased from about 700 lei last year to 433 lei this year.

"The cost of this type of policy varies from case to case (depending on the vehicle, accident history, etc.). Check the websites of insurance companies and insurance applications to see how much the Green Card will cost in your case", recommended Radu Marian.

From January 1, 2025, the Green Card insurance certificate can be presented in digital format. Thus, drivers of vehicles registered in the Republic of Moldova can travel outside the country, in most of the members of the Green Card system, only with the digital certificate. Certificates issued in printed format prior to November 1, 2024 remain valid for the entire duration specified in the certificate.

The Green Card insurance certificate is an international motor insurance document that certifies that the vehicle owned by the driver is covered by compulsory motor third party liability insurance (external MTPL) when travelling outside the country of origin.
