The municipal Green Areas Association could work out and implement a plan for inventorying and delimiting the green areas in Chisinau. A draft decision to this effect was proposed for public debates by the Socialist group on the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), IPN reports.
Under the initiative, the company will have to draw up a common register for monitoring the green areas during 60 days and regulations concerning the management and protection of the green areas in Chisinau municipality, which are to be approved by the CMC. According to Socialist councilor Vadim Filipov, such regulations are needed because there are kiosks and other temporary constructions in green areas that should not be actually there.
The draft decision suggests banning the issuing of new urbanism certificates and authorization for building in green areas until the regulations are approved. The Government is to work out and adopt the regulatory documents regarding the management, protection and development of green areas.
Socialist councilor Alexandru Odintov said the necessity of such an initiative is evident because the Chisinau City Hall considers that where the green areas are not delimited, even if there are many trees, these are not green areas. “There are many such areas in Chisinau and there is a risk that these will be destroyed,” he stated.
The initiative was made public during debates centering on draft decisions and proposals that the Socialist group intends to present to the CMC for examination. The debates were staged by the Socialist councilors.
