The Greek authorities have plans to open an office of the Embassy of Greece in Moldova in the near future so as to stimulate the bilateral relations between the two countries. The subject was discussed by Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, in a meeting with the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Greece Konstantinos Fragkogianni, IPN reports.

Nicu Popescu played host to Konstantinos Fragkogiannis, who leads an official delegation at the fourth meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation.

“I welcomed the Greek side’s decision to open an office of the Embassy of Greece in the near future so as to stimulate the bilateral relations between our states. We also discussed the cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Greece in the energy sector and the necessity of strengthening the economic relations,” stated the Deputy Premier.

Nicu Popescu reaffirmed that joining the EU is Moldova’s strategic objective. He thanked for the constant support provided by Greece in the process of modernizing the Republic of Moldova and in the country’s efforts to become part of the EU, noting that the Moldovan authorities bank on Greece’s assistance in opening the accession negotiations with the EU by the end of this year.
