Greece will contribute to hastening liberalization of visa regime for Moldova

Greece will contribute to hastening the liberalization of the visa regime between Moldova and the EU. The statement was made by the Ambassador of the Greek Republic to Moldova, with residence in Kiev, Vassilis Papadopoulos, who handed over his credentials to President Nicolae Timofti, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the presidential press service, the Greek diplomat reasserted Greece’s firm support for the European aspirations and reform agenda of Moldova. After the Greek Republic takes over the presidency of the European Union on January 1, 2014, it will encourage further Moldovan authorities’ efforts to make progress on the path to integration into the EU.

Nicolae Timofti wished the ambassador success in his work and reiterated that Moldova is determined to continue the course to European integration. The initialing of the Association Agreement with the EU at the EaP Summit in Vilnius and its subsequent signing will represent an important step in the European integration process. The officials agreed to intensify the economic relations between Moldova and Greece.
