Greco-Roman wrestlers leave Rome European Championships

The competition at the European Wrestling Championships of Rome for Greco-Roman wrestlers is over. Moldova’s Donior Islamov (67 kg class) and Anatolie Popov (72 kg) were beaten in the playoffs, IPN reports.

Islamov, who won two bronze medals at European Championships, lost to Bulgaria’s Deyvid Dimitrov, while Popov was defeated by Azerbaijan’s Ulvu Ganizade. Artiom Deleanu (55 kg), Victor Ciobanu (63 kg), Daniel Cataraga (77 kg) and Mihail Bradu (82 kg) were eliminated earlier.

The women’s competition started on February 12. Anastasia Nichita (59 kg) scored a 10-0 victory against Hungary’s Ramona Galambos, while Svetlana Saenko was beaten by Ekaterina Bukina of Russia.
