Prime Minister Zinaida Greceanii said Tuesday that the Government took measures to overcome the economic crisis even before it started and is ready to take other measures if need be, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Evidently, despite the rather high immunity from the financial crisis that affected many countries, the Moldovan economy is also affected by it, especially the sectors dependent on the foreign markets,” the Premier said. Zinaida Greceanii also said that many make promises during the election campaign, saying they have multiple solutions and proposals. But, in fact, the instruments that can be used are not so many in number as it seems. According to the Premier, the fiscal instruments are the major tools that the Government can use in such conditions. The public investment in infrastructure could also play an important role during crisis. ”The Government’s policy during 2007 -2008 focused on the reduction or partial exemption from taxes on consumption and taxes paid by the producers. So, it is at least incorrect to say that the executive does not take anti-crisis measurers,” Greceanii said. “Certainly, when the new Parliament is elected, our team will propose other fiscal solutions, some of which aimed at reducing the tax rates. These initiatives will pave the way for the next periods, when the world economy will start to recover and the demand and prices, first of all of energy resources, on the world markets will grow,” the Premier said. As to investments, Greceanii said that Moldova now has comparative advantages in the fight for investments. “The possibility of exporting and importing into Moldova by maritime ways is one of the major advantages that we obtained in the economic development and foreign investment attraction,” she said. The Government also says that another anti-crisis measure is the stimulation of the demand by raising pensions from April 1 and salaries.
