This year the Christmas Fair will be staged in the Great National Assembly Square. The municipality took such a decision because the Cathedral Square is under repair. The artificial fir tree that was also used the previous years will be placed the coming days, IPN reports.

“Despite all the circumstances that are not at all easy, we all, primarily the children, need to feel the spirit of the winter holidays. The winter holidays are coming and the Chisinau City Hall this year will traditionally organize the Christmas Fair in the center of the capital city and in other districts. We deed calculations and determined that the power consumption for all the decorations in the city costs us approximately the same amount as for the consumption of a 25-story block. We have partners and this will donate generators that we will use during the winter holidays and will then give them to educational institutions in Chisinau,” stated mayor Ion Ceban.

According to him, all the decorations purchased the past three years are managed by the Chisinau City Hall, the divisions, enterprises and district head’s offices. The goal was to purchase new decorations to renew the old ones not to rent some each year.

The program of the winter holidays will be published later. “We would like to stage more events, lay out more locations and organize more projects, but we cannot ignore the holidays as this is not fair towards our citizens. Many people these days visited Bucharest and other palaces in Romania, which are nicely decorated, and we were asked if we will have a Chrisms Fair in Chisinau? I now respond to all the inhabitants and guests of the capital city: the Christmas holidays will be felt in Chisinau too,” said the mayor.
