The district authorities are invited to apply for grants of up to 100,000 lei for developing youth-friendly services within a program launched by the Ministry of Youth and Sport, with a total budget of 5 million lei, IPN reports.
Minister Victor Zubcu told a news conference that the goal of the Ministry of Youth and Sport is to set up 25 centers that will provide youth-friendly services by 2022, especially in district centers, alongside the existing 25 such centers.
There will be selected projects designed to increase the level of civic activism among youth people, to strengthen local youth councils, to contribute to intensifying measures to promote a healthy lifestyle among the youth and to extend educational services.
“It is a program aimed at diminishing the problems faced by the youth. The work of these centers is very valued. In the Republic of Moldova, the services intended for the youth are few in number compared with the total number of young people,” stated Victor Zubcu.
Deputy minister Pavel Ianet said that by applying to this program, the local public authorities will assume the commitment to develop and extend the coverage of services provided for the youth so as to increase the number of beneficiaries of youth services.
In Moldova there are now 25 youth centers. Eight of them work in district centers, while the rest are concentrated in towns.
