Granting of EU candidate status is confirmation of European countries’ support, Maia Sandu

The granting of the EU candidate status a year ago is a stage that confirmed that the Republic of Moldova enjoys the European countries’ support to build its future within the European family. It is a stage on our road to the EU. On our path to the European Union, we see the highest number of transformations and benefit from the largest assistance, President Maia Sandu said in a message.

The official noted that owing to the support provided by the European partners, we manage to improve the conditions in schools and kindergartens, to modernize roads, to build bridges, water supply and sewerage networks, to renovate houses of culture and to build the state institutions’ capacity to ensure peace and the security of citizens.

“We all realize that Moldova’s transformation into a European country requires a number of stages, hard work and many changes, but with each stage, year by year, we come closer to the moment when we will become a European state. And we will be proud of what we did for the county and our children,” said President Sandu.

On March 3, 2022, the Republic of Moldova submitted the application for EU membership. On June 23, 2022, the European Council granted the EU candidate status to the Republic of Moldova, recommending doing important reforms.
