About 20 artists from Moldova and Romania will take part in a graffiti festival which will be held on August 23 and 24 in Ghidighici, Chisinau Municipality. The event is organized by the “Oberliht” Association of Young Artists from Moldova as part of the “Interventii 3” (“Interventions 3”) project for promoting art in public space. The participants will fill out about 100 meters of the local farm with wall drawings. Everybody is invited to participate in the festival. Those interested can send their sketches and proposals as well as the contacts to info@oberliht.org.md until august 16. The authors of the best ideas will receive gifts. Vladimir Us, artist and project director told Info-Prim Neo that the project is aiming to become a forum for discussions on the public space and its status: what is public space? Who is entitled to use it and how? A group of graffiti artists from Romania will visit Chisinau between August 19 and 29. Together with the best Moldovan graffitists they will create a range of works of modern art in different public spaces in Chisinau, the graffiti festival being just one of the project’s activities. According to Vladimir Us, the participants’ works will focus on the space we are living in and which influences us. They will be based on the social, administrative and economic structure of Chisinau and its suburbs. The works will vary from photos and other artistic forms based on text and image, including stencils, stickers, ads, etc, to installations and performances. The urban context will serve as an exhibition space for presenting the final works, which would bring the artistic message to the inhabitants of Chisinau. The “Interventions 3” project is held within the “Chiosc” Project, financed by the Latin Union (Moldovan office), Romanian Cultural Institute, European Cultural Foundation and Henkel Romania.
