Almost 1,000 graduates of the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Nicolae Testemitanu” on June 12 swore the oath of doctor and pharmacist in a ceremony held at the National Palace “Nicolae Sulac”, IPN reports.
“Dear graduates of the 2018 class, you successfully finished the first stage of formation as doctors and pharmacists, becoming thus representatives of a special human profession that necessitates solid knowledge and well-developed practical skills as well as full devotion, responsibility and sacrifice,” said the University’s rector Ion Ababii.
According to the rector, the bachelor’s diploma enables the students to continue their studies in residency or to work in the national health system. They can also continue their studies abroad given that the integrated studies diploma of the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Nicolae Testemitanu” is recognized in an absolute majority of countries.
“We will make considerable effort to make sure you work in a health system with a developed infrastructure, with decent salaries and care for the people, where you could practice honorably,” said the head of the Parliament’s commission on social protection, health and family Valentina Buliga.
Minister of Education, Culture and Research Monica Babuc said it is huge joy to see such a larger number of graduating students who completed a very difficult education stage. “Today you became the graduates of a very prestigious institution that produced extraordinary health professions of whom it can be proud in any country,” stated Monica Babuc, urging the young people to build a career in Moldova.
“Dear graduates, you chose a one-way road and this road is not at all easy, with ups and downs. However, I want to assure you with full responsibility that the Ministry will be making every effort to make this road easier by creating decent working conditions,” said Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Svetlana Cebotari.
Graduate Ana-Maria Ghilas said she specialized in public health and the taking of the oath was probably the most awaited event during the six years of studies. She is very happy. The next stage is difficult as she is to take a decision as to the continuation of studies and finding of a job. She intends to work in the public system even if the salaries here are not the highest.
Graduate Iulia Isacov said today is a special day for her as the years of studies were very difficult and she did hard work. As she graduated from dentistry, she aims to work at a private dental clinic where the salaries are higher and the equipment is better than at state institutions.
Another graduate who studied dentistry Victor Marcautan said he intends to go abroad to work as the advantages and opportunities at home are fewer in number and there are bigger prospects abroad. He will go to Romania first and will later emigrate to other European states or even to the U.S.
A number of 992 students graduated from the “Nicolae Testemitanu” University this year. Of these, 292 are from 13 countries. Of the total number of graduates, 450 studied general medicine, while 105 dentistry. The others studied pharmacy and preventive medicine.
