Graduates of “Igor Vieru” high school stage exhibition on 40th anniversary of institution’s foundation

The Chisinau-based National Plastic Arts High School “Igor Vieru” is celebrating 40 years of the foundation. On this occasion, students, teachers and renowned plastic artists came together for a roundtable meeting on Friday to speak about the institution’s accomplishments and experience. More than 70 paintings made by graduates of the high school were displayed at the Exhibitions Center “Constantin Brancusi”, Info-Prim Neo reports. At the meeting, the high school’s principal Pavel Turuta said that the institution has witnessed many successes in arts during its work. The style of painting has changed in time. “The exhibition set up on the 40th anniversary of the creation of the high school includes paintings made by graduates during the last five years. Even if they focus on similar themes, the graduates employ new techniques and are more optimistic,” Pavel Turuta said. Constantin Pestereanu, the high school’s vice director, said that the institution has always tried to implant the love for the arts and to promote young talents. “The students here are very talented. They achieved many beautiful results and this exhibition comes to prove this,” he said. Artist Simion Zamsa, who graduated from the high school, said that he came to “Igor Vieru” school when he was ten. The school became for him a refuge, a place where he could express his thoughts freely with the help of the brush and inspiration. The art teacher Igor Vieru always encouraged his pupils with the words “I learn from you, not you from me”. The high school is attended by about 170 students. 15-20 students graduate from it every year.
