GPI about drone that fell in Criuleni: It is of Russian origin

The drone that crashed on Tuesday on the outskirts of Coșernița village in Criuleni district was examined by experts of the Forensic and Judicial Expertise Center of the General Police Inspectorate (GPI). The first checks show that it is an aerial vehicle accompanying Russian-origin "Shahed" drones, which did not have an explosive attached, IPN reports.

The GPI said that there are no risks or dangers for the safety of citizens in the region. "The police appeal to the citizens who identify aircraft or other suspicious devices that fell to the ground not to approach them or touch them, but to immediately notify the police on the emergency number 112," reads a press release.

This is the third drone that fell on the territory of the Republic of Moldova in the last three days. Two others were detected not far from Fârlădeni village in Căușeni district and near Borosenii Noi village in Râșcani district.

In this connection, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that there is clear information showing that the drones were launched by the Russian Federation. On Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs handed over a note of protest over the violation of Moldova’s airspace to the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova, Oleg Ozerov. According to the institution, this is a serious violation and an unfriendly gesture on the part of Russia.
