Govt. to get 3.5 M euros for regional development
The Moldovan Government will receive technical assistance worth over 3.5 million euros to support and strengthen the key institutions in regional development, from June 2009 to December 2010. The assistance will be offered by the company Oxford Policy Management (OPM), the University from Birmingham and the Public Policies Institute, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to a communique issued by the British Department for International Development (DFID) and by the Swedish SIDA, the National Board coordinating the regional development, the regional Boards for Development and the Regional Development agencies.
They will develop strategies and projects in each of those three key-regions (North, South and Center) and they will support a complex monitoring system, including the National Statistics Bureau. The program will also support mechanisms of regional procurement and financing, and will develop public-private partnerships.
In June 2008, DFID and SIDA, in cooperation with the Local Public Administration Ministry, launched a new program of technical cooperation aimed at supporting the Moldovan Government in implementing its policy of regional development.
