Govt. to consider setting up Civil Council to monitor Anti-Corruption Center
Setting up a Civil Council to monitor the Economic Crimes and Corruption Combating Center (ECCCC) is to be considered by the Government at its next sitting. The promise was made Tuesday by Prime-Minister Zinaida Greceanai at the meeting with the new U.S. ambassador to Moldova, Asif J. Chaudhry, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the Government's press unit, the sides remarked the importance of the independence of the civil council. The Prime-Minister highlighted the need to institute this panel to increase the transparency of the ECCCC's work.
Opposition parties have repeatedly accused that ECCC is used as a tool of political revenge in the rulers' hands.
