Govt. takes reserve money to repair building of Broadcasting Regulator

The Government has allocated 5.73 million lei from the Reserve (Emergency) Fund to repair the quarters of the Broadcasting Coordinating Council (BCC) on Vlaicu Parcalab street in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports. The decision has been harshly criticized by independent experts and media, saying the BCC could have payed for the reparation from own money, as the money could be given to flood-hit people. The Government gave the building to the BCC in December 2007. Gheorghe Gorincioi, the BCC president, declared then the need for more space was dictated by the development of the monitoring center. “The BCC needs a whole story to install the monitoring equipment.” The chairman says the BCC neither has an adequate room to hold its sittings in, as its members work by 2-3 in small rooms.
