10 workers place the Country's Tree on the Great National Assembly Square in Chisinau's downtown. It is 19 meters long and will be inaugurated by the Prime-Minister next Friday, December 19, at 16.00. The Government's spokesman Vitalie Condraţchi has told Info-Prim Neo the fir tree has been brought from Calarasi district by employees of forestry state company Moldsilva. He could say how much is the fir tree and why the authorities decided to install the Christmas tree earlier than planned The Chisinau City Hall has also stated it will erect a Christmas tree on the National Assembly Square till December. On Tuesday morning, the City Hall's tree however was arrested by the police when a truck was bringing it from Cojusna, Straseni district, where it was bought. According to a press release by the City Hall, the truck driver was accused of not having an ecological endorsement paper. Last year, the Christmas Tree was installed on the Square as ordered by Chisinau's mayor Dorin Chirtoaca on December 9, but disappeared over the night. A couple of hours later it was brought to the Triumph Arch, and then in front of the City Hall. In 2007, the Government's 'Country Principal Fir Tree' was inaugurated on December 28.
