Communist lawmakers said the government intentionally didn’t subscribe for shares of the additional issue of Banca de Economii (BEM). As a result, the state-owned shareholding in this bank decreased from 56% to 33.33%.

MP Artur Reshetnikov was quoted by IPN as saying in a news conference that the BEM is a very important bank on which the economic and financial situation in Moldova depends. Most of the people have deposits in Banca de Economii (Savings Bank) and use the bank’s services.

“The neglecting of the BEM’s role is a crime against the people. The authorities have dreamt of appropriating Banca de Economii for two years,” said the MP, adding that the government managed the bank inappropriately in the period.

Communist MP Oleg Reidman said that among those to blame for the appropriation of the bank are the Premier and ex-Premier, the former and current ministers of finance and other persons.

As to the embargo imposed by Russia, Oleg Reidman said that the quality of the Moldovan wines is not the desired one and steps should be taken to put things right.
