The Government’s program for 2015-2018, for which Parliament is to give a vote of confidence today, July 30, has been published on the legislature’s website. The new Cabinet, headed by the Premier designate Valeriu Strelet, aims to primarily increase welfare, safety and the quality of life. The program’s preamble says the European integration is the safest method of achieving these objectives. For the purpose, the Government aims to create all the preconditions needed to make sure that Moldova is eligible for obtaining the status of candidate for accession to the EU, IPN reports.
The Government pledges to promote the reunification of the country. The political settlement of the conflict will be correlated with the European integration objective. The definitive resolution of the conflict must ensure the viable, democratic, independent and sovereign character of the reunified state, it is said in the document.
In the short term, the major preoccupations are to remove the risks threatening the internal and external security of the state, to stabilize the banking sector, to punish and combat financial frauds, to ensure a balance between the sustainable fiscal consolidation and the stimulation of economic development and to protect people’s incomes.
In the medium term, the Cabinet’s priorities are to enhance the people’s welfare by ensuing inclusive economic growth and supporting the socially deprived groups, to fight corruption, to reform the justice sector and the law enforcement institutions so that these establish the rule of law and to ensure access to education and health services of a high quality.
According to the document, the final goal of the Government is to create a powerful state that would serve the people – a state with correct and just institutions that work based on the principle of transparency and efficiency and a state where the law works, where the law enforcement bodies are depoliticized and where justice is done in the people’s interests, while the public money is spent in the public interests.
