After a hiatus of several years, the governmental commission for the reintegration of the country will resume its work. This was announced by Victor Osipov, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, during the Fabrica talk-show on Publika TV, IPN reports.
“I'm making a public announcement that this week, after a very long time, the governmental commission for the reintegration of the country will meet. It's a commission created a long time ago. I think that after several years, we'll have a meeting on Thursday”, said the official.
Speaking about the Security Zone, Victor Osipov said that there is no need for provocations, but Moldova cannot ignore the military mobilization and preparation taking place there. “We are following these events and are communicating our concerns to our external partners”, said the Deputy PM.
He is happy with Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet's decision to change the way the government is promoting reintegration policies. According to him, the state must set clear goals and deadlines, allot the necessary human and financial resources and measure the outcomes of these goals, in order to understand what is working and what not, instead of simply carrying on with symbolic negotiations.
Osipov thinks that a new platform is needed in this regard, one that integrates all the forces in Moldova, as this is a problem of national interest.
However, he agrees that “this summer, the process of settling the Transnistrian conflict was very cold”. Until recently, bilateral meetings had not taken place for 3 months. One was held on August 13, as proposed by Tiraspol, and another one will take place this week in Chisinau. Osipov thinks that the meeting on August 13 put an end to the “cold period” of negotiations.
