Government withdraws bill on common tax in agriculture

The Government withdrew from Parliament the bill on the common tax in agriculture, IPN reports.

Deputy Minister of Finance Maria Caraus said the implementation of the bill will have a number of negative effects, including complicated fiscal administration, fiscal inequity between farmers by increasing the fiscal pressure on those who earn low incomes and diminishing it on those who obtain large incomes. Problems will also appear as regards the distribution of the tax as a source of financing the budget.

The chairman of the National Employers Confederation Leonid Cerescu said he was against withdrawing the bill.

The national farmers associations plead for the imposition of a common tax as this will create equal conditions for farmers and will bring more revenues into the budget. The common tax was to include six taxes – the income tax, land tax, real estate tax, road tax, water tax and the local taxes.
