The Government the current winter season – November-March – will subsidize 33% of the natural gas charge and 58% of the heat energy charge, as the Cabinet decided on Wednesday.
Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu said the price of a cubic meter of gas will vary between 12 lei/m3 for the extreme vulnerability category and 17 lei/m3 for the primary vulnerability category. The non-subsidized charge is 18.7 lei per cubic meter of gas.
At most 180 cubic meters of natural gas a month will be subsidized.
The heat energy charge will be subsidized in proportion of 58%. The consumers of the extreme vulnerability category will pay 1,450 lei/Gcal, while those of the primary vulnerability category – 2,900 lei/Gcal at a time when the charge is 3,467 lei/Gcal.
At most 1.3 gigacalories will be subsidized monthly.
The subsidies for energy are provided from the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund that is financed with state budget funds and with the contributions of the EU, the U.S. and other development partners. To benefit from subsidies, household users must fill out an application online by November 25, 2023, either they registered or not last year.
