Government tries to prevent bread price hikes
The Government decided to take 7,000 tonnes of wheat from the state reserve and to distribute it to bakeries in those 32 districts of the country, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Prime deputy premier Igor Dodon said the main condition to get the wheat is not to impose commercial additions to the price of bread higher than planned. The wheat will be distributed as a loan till September 30, 2008, when the wheat will be returned into the state reserve.
According to Economy and Trade Minister Igor Dodon, thus the Government tries to solve out two issues. First, to prevent the increase in the bread prices, as some authorities from Southern districts announce the bread price could rise, because of wheat shortage. Second, they want to renew the state wheat reserves.
It is not for the first time when the Government distributes wheat to bakeries to prevent the hike in bread prices, however, some bakeries have never returned back the borrowed wheat.
