Government to penalise district authorities that did not present lists of farmers to receive subsidies

The authorities of the districts that failed to present the list of farmers who have to receive subsidies will be invited to the meeting of the Commission for Emergency Cases. “We will make radical decisions”, PM Vasile Tarlev stated. According to him, the MDL 84 mln promised for subsidising the farmers for the works related to autumn ploughing and sowing were transferred to the account of the Ministry of Finance, but the framers did not receive the support promised by the Government and can not work because the “bureaucrats” do not present the lists. The prime minister says that the recent rains created good premises for carrying out the autumn ploughing and preparing the fields for sowing, and the promised funds have to be distributed as soon as possible. The Government planned to support the farmers and to offer them subsidies for the losses caused by the drought, on average about MDL 200 per hectare. On the whole, it is supposed to offer MDL 200 mln to partially cover the damage caused by the drought. MDL 10 mln will be distributed to compensate the expenses for the consumption of power and fuel during irrigation, other MDL 10 mln – for the support of anti-hail service. MDL 40 mln will be transferred to the account of the Ministry of Finance in order to compensate the Value Added Tax on the sale of agrifood products on the territory of Moldova, and other MDL 56 mln will cover the VAT compensations for fertilisers.
