The Government will offer compensations for firewood expenses, as decided by the Commission for Emergencies.
The Government will allocate 64.2 million lei from its rainy day fund to the forestry agency Moldsilva to make sure firewood prices don’t go up.
Also, the Minister of the Environment was instructed to draw up an action plan for supplying the population with firewood.
The Government has announced that it will provide firewood for household consumers at prices similar to last year. Hardwood will sell for 550-875 lei per cubic meter meter, and softwood for 350-475 lei.
Each cold season Moldovans burn approximately 1 million cubic meters of firewood. The governmental agency Moldsilva is expected to cover about 80 percent of this amount.
