Government to name new deputy ministers and agency heads next week

The appointment of the deputy ministers is a priority for the new Government. In an interview for Radio Free Europe, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said the partners of the Pro-European Coalition agreed to make effort so that the process of naming the missing agency heads and deputy ministers is initiated in the last week’s meeting of the executive, IPN reports.

Iurie Leanca stated that during the present Government’s mandate of about one year and a half, the reforms started by the previous executive will be continued. In some areas, reforms are to be initiated or stepped up. “I think that in a year and a half, our people will be able to assess our work based on the changes that they will feel,” he said.

According to the Premier, the Government’s priorities include the European integration, reduction of poverty, creation of well-paid jobs, and achievement of palpable results in the fight against corruption. Iurie Leanca said that there is small corruption and great corruption, the latter involving factionaries and statesmen. “Anyway, the ordinary people, when going to the office, hospital or school are often told to give bribe for being issued with a certificate or an authorization,” stated the Prime Minister, adding that the government program envisions the continuation of the e-governance policies, which will maximally diminish the interaction between people and functionaries.

The Transnistrian issue is another priority. “This is a wound that has been bleeding since the first independence day. Until we do not reintegrate the Transnistrian region into the common political, economic and cultural space of Moldova, we will be unable to speak about a fully functional system,” said the Premier. Asked if he will meet with the Transnistria leader Yevgeny Shevchuk, Iurie Leanca said that this is not excluded.

The head of the Government also said that they managed to overcome the political crisis that marked the people’s state of mind and the perception of the political elite inside the country and outside it. “The mutual, often groundless accusations, the animosities and the sometimes uncivilized behavior, the particular maturity of some of the politicians seriously affected the way the people perceive us,” stated Iurie Leanca.

The Leanca Government was given a vote of confidence by Parliament on May 30.
