The Government will award 6 raions with MDL 280 thousand for finishing the autumn tilling until December 15, 2006. In 2006 all the raions were divided in groups of raions depending on the tillable areas of land they administrate. The Government announced the winners on Wednesday, January 10. The raions Rascani and Briceni, included in the 1st group were awarded with MDL 50 thousand each. Stefan Voda and Donsuseni, included in the 2nd group were awarded with MDL 40 thousand each. Taraclia and Ocnita, included in the 3rd group were awarded with MDL 50 thousand each. Initially, MDL 70 and 50 thousand were planned for the raions included in the 1st group, MDL 60 and 40 thousand – for the 2nd group, and MDL 50 and 30 thousand – for the 3rd group. In light of the fact that Rascani and Briceni from the 1st group and Stefan Voda and Donduseni (2nd group) did not finish the autumn tilling on the entire area until December 15, 2006, but they reached results of over 98-99% they were offered the awards for the 2nd place. The raions included in the 3rd group finished the autumn tilling on the entire territory. According to the PM Vasile Tarlev, this contest interested the raions, therefore it must be repeated in the future. Although the autumn tilling is not the direct concern of the Government because 98% of the tillable lands are private properties, the PM says that the role of the Government in supporting farmers is important in the developing period.
