Government to allocate extra 1.8 mln lei for Cahul-Giurgiulesti rail line project

The Government will allocate to the Agency for Land Relations and Cadastre from the Reserve Fund 1.8 mln lei more for buying from private property the lands meant for building the Cahul-Giurgiulesti railroad track. The money will be also spent for registering the purchased lands into the Real Estate Register, for certifying the contracts, forming and registering the land plots as a result of placing the site and concluding the documents on the meant lands modification. The Government intends to organise in the near future an international tender for selecting the contractor for the construction of the Cahul-Giurgiulesti railroad track, with a length of 49.8km and a cost of about 837 mln lei. Minister of Transport and Road Management Vasile Ursu has previously stated that the Government allocated 100 mln lei to buy land plots and preparing the lands for the station’s construction. The rest of the money will be contracted from the European Banks. The rail line will start to operate in early 2009. The press wrote previously that the construction works started without any auction and in the absence of the survey on the environmental impact. Furthermore, the inhabitants in the area say that there has started an intense action of persuading the land owners in the territory to sell them for low money.
