The Government proposes that the state of emergency should be extended for another 60 days as from August 8 due to the war in Ukraine, the necessity of managing the refugee crisis and of ensuring the energy and food security, IPN reports.
“We consider the state of emergency should be extended so that we could intervene promptly if decisions need to be taken in addition to those that rely on the existing legal framework and could also keep the mechanisms adopted so far within the Commission for Exceptional Situations so as to manage the flow of refugees and prevent risks to public order and to ensure the country’s economic development during the war in the neighboring country ,” Minister of the Interior Ana Revenco stated in Wednesday’s meeting of the Cabinet.
The request to extend the state of emergency will be submitted to Parliament for consideration.
The state of emergency declared on February 24 was extended by Parliament for several times so far.
