Government sets up phone line for providing information about situation in Turkey
Those who intend to go to Turkey will be able to inform themselves about the situation in this country by the telephone line 022 788 688. The decision was taken in an extraordinary meeting of government officials called in connection with the coup attempt in Turkey, IPN reports.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip said that at this phone number the people will be able to find out information about the border crossing points that remain closed and about the schedule of flights to destinations in Turkey. “It is summer and is the vacation season. A lot of people intend to travel to this area,” he stated.
The Premier called on the Moldovan citizens who are vacationing in Turkey not to leave the hotels until the situation is fully remedied. It is estimated that over 6,000 Moldovans are now in Turkey.
According to the latest reports by CNN, at least 90 people died and 1,000 people were injured across Turkey in an attempted military coup that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said was over. After the chaotic attempt by members of the military to wrest control from Erdogan during a night of explosions, gunfire and tanks rolling along the streets of Ankara and Istanbul, the government is now in charge. Over 1,500 rebels were reportedly detained by the police.
