Government sets up Interministerial Committee for Strategic Planning

The Government created an Interministerial Committee for Strategic Planning that will substitute a number of commissions empowered to coordinate inter-sector policies and to supervise the implementation of certain national documents, Info-Prim Neo reports. The new agency will fulfill the duties of the Interministerial Committee for the Implementation and Evaluation of the National Development Strategy, the Governmental Commission for Central Public Administration Reform, the National Committee for Foreign Assistance. The Interministerial Committee for Strategic Planning will also coordinate the working out of the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework, aspects of regional development and European integration. It will be headed by Prime Minister Zinaida Greceanyi and will consist of ministers and representatives of the Government’s Apparatus. There are more than 50 commissions, committees, boards or governmental working groups that coordinate the formulation and implementation of strategic documents or monitor the situation and trends in certain spheres and areas of activity. The executive argued that such a high-level committee is needed because the strategic planning process must be fully coordinated, the major objectives of the Government hierarchically organized and correlated with the available and planned financial resources.
