Government returns to issue of Moldova’s property on Ukrainian territory

A commission created by the Government will assess the state of the Moldovan facilities situated on the territory of Ukraine. It is headed by Deputy Minister of Economy Sergiu Ciobanu and consists of officials of the Public Property Agency, the State Chancellery, the ministries and companies that manage these facilities and representatives of trade unions and employers, Info-Prim Neo reports. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar said that in the meeting of the joint Moldovan-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission that was held in Chisinau last November, it was agreed to draft the protocols on the legal status of the facilities located on the territory of the other state in the first half of the year and to sign them in the next meeting of the commission. Moldova earlier transmitted the sets of documents showing that it has ownership rights over 67 facilities to the Ukrainian side. The property recognition process was suspended by Ukraine in 2006. Meanwhile, some of these facilities were sold, while others abandoned or taken over by the local authorities. “We will perform a new assessment and will then submit again the necessary documents to the Ukrainian side so that the ownership rights are recognized,” said Valeriu Lazar. Nine of the 67 facilities belong to trade unions, 32 to Transnistrian companies, while 26 are owned by the state and enterprises and institutions located on the right bank of the Nistru. Valeriu Lazar instructed Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Eugen Karpov to inform the Transnistrian authorities about the assessment of the facilities situated on Ukraine’s territory so that they delegate their representatives to take part in the process.
